Now that registration has closed for the upcoming seminars, here are a few common lingering questions and answers:
- Can I register late? It depends on space available, and whether the food and beverage guarantee has already been submitted at the location you’d like to attend. Please contact Pat or Brandy at the NIRMA office 402.742.9220 to inquire. Limited walk-in registration space may be available on site, but we ask that you call ahead to ensure we have sufficient supplies and that we are not charged extra fees by the venues.
- Are the seminars only for NIRMA members? Yes, and this particular seminar is best suited for management level officials and supervisors in county offices, although any employee of a NIRMA-member county or agency is welcome to attend.
- I registered, but I can no longer attend. What should I do? Contact Pat Clancy at the NIRMA Office by no later than the cancelation deadline of March 28. If you do not cancel by this date, you will be charged a fee of $40 to partially cover the cost of supplies and food that was pre-purchased for each registered attendee.
- I can’t remember if I registered and can’t find a confirmation email. What should I do? Call the NIRMA Office and we will assist you.
- Will these seminars be videotaped for me to watch later? No, these seminars involve legal content and they are held live and are not recorded to encourage in-person participation.
- Will photographs be taken at the seminar? Yes, your attendance will be deemed consent to photography on site by NIRMA. Photos are typically used for purposes of NIRMA’s publications. Photos taken of member officials or groups can be shared with members for their own use in their publications or on their websites or social media, if requested.
- Who gets a copy of the newly updated and republished NIRMA Guide to Creating a Personnel System for Nebraska Counties? Each member-designated NIRMA Contact Person will receive one free printed copy. Additionally, county attorneys who responded to a pre-event email invitation to reserve a copy in advance will also receive a free copy. The Guide is available online to NIRMA-member managers/supervisors as well, and instructions for online access are in the attendee binders to be distributed on site. Login credentials for the NIRMA Interact portal on our website are required for online access. Contact the NIRMA office for related inquiries.
- How many continuing education hours are available for the seminar, and how do I claim my hours? 6.25 hours of free continuing education hours are available for many county officers, including Assessors, Highway Superintendents, District Court Clerks, Treasurers, County HR Directors, County Attorneys/Public Defenders, and Sheriffs/Jail Directors. In the front pocket of your attendee binder on site will be a sheet with instructions for how many hours were approved by various credentialing agencies for various county job roles, and how to claim those hours. The same sheet should be signed and preserved by you as your proof of attendance.
- I need a hotel room, do you have a group rate or block? We do not reserve any room blocks for these regional seminars, because they are generally close enough that our attendees do not require a room. But we understand there are exceptions. While we don’t have a special rate at any hotels, we may be able to assist you in finding a room at a trusted hotel for a competitive rate. Contact Brandy at the NIRMA office if you need assistance.
- What’s the parking situation for the Lincoln seminar this year? We’ve made arrangements with the various parking authorities at Nebraska Innovation Campus to avoid the need for anyone to need to use the Passport Parking app. Be sure to park in the large north conference parking lot, not the street stalls (the only exception is someone with a handicapped plate or plaque on display). Upon arrival, take note of your license plate number. Go into the conference center and sign in at our registration desk with your license plate number. From there, NIRMA will validate your parking at no cost to you. There will be no ticketing enforcement in the north lot until after 9:00 a.m. on April 3 to allow time for our guests to enter and for NIRMA to validate all vehicles. However, NIRMA cannot be responsible for fees or tickets issued to those who fail to park in the north lot, or who do not provide us with the information necessary to validate their vehicle.
