NIRMA is currently accepting applications from elected and appointed officials in member counties and agencies who would like to be considered for one of four positions on the NIRMA Board of Directors. These seats will be decided by election at the Annual Association Membership Meeting on October 23 at the Younes Conference Center North in Kearney.  Elections are to a three-year term beginning January 1, 2027.

Those eligible and interested in applying should download and review the eligibility details and Application/Nomination Form. The completed form must be returned to Executive Director Andrea Thieman by no later than the close of business on Monday, September 23, 2026.

Four incumbent members of the NIRMA Board have expressed their intent to seek re-election to another term:

Elyse Schlake Lukassen, Kimball County Commissioner

Erich Tiemann, Gage County Supervisor

L. Wayne Johnson, Clay County Supervisor

Travee Hobbs, Brown County Clerk

Applications for the Board election will be reviewed by the NIRMA Nominating Committee, and that Committee will prepare the slate of candidates for the ballot.  Late nominated candidates cannot be placed on the printed ballot, but may be nominated from the floor in person during the election for write-in only.
