The NIRMA HR Help Line was established in 2003 to assist with member legal questions on employment practices. But did you know, there is an additional resource for members who need additional proactive legal help related to other county functions, outside the context of employment practices?

It’s now called Legal Link, and it’s only a call or email away:

The attorneys who answer are partners in the independent law firm, Governmental Law, LLC. They will not replace your County Attorney, nor the existing HR Help Line. This is a separate, supplemental resource for confidential legal consultations. Who can use it? This service is limited to NIRMA member officials and supervisory/management staff. It is intended to help mitigate member liability risks. It is a free value-added service, though if an issue is particularly complex or time-consuming, a separate fee agreement between the member and the independent law firm’s attorneys may be required.

Call or email the attorneys at Legal Link for help with topics such as:

  • Zoning
  • County Roads
  • Public Records Requests
  • Open Meetings
  • First Amendment Audits
  • Contracts & Agreements
  • Law Enforcement issues
    • Use of Force
    • Inmate Civil Rights
    • Pursuits
