NIRMA’s Cyber Toolkit Updated to Version 3

The cyber security environment is constantly changing, and NIRMA is dedicated to ensuring the information shared with members is current and useful. Using the Interact Portal on our website, members can access NIRMA’s Cyber Security Toolkit 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Originally distributed during regional seminars held in April of 2022, the online version of the Toolkit recently underwent a comprehensive review and update effective June 1, 2023. Inside you’ll find links to new federal government resources from CISA as well as a link to the Nationwide Cybersecurity Review (NCSR), a free annual self-assessment designed to measure gaps and capabilities of local government cybersecurity programs. The NCSR must be completed to seek grant funding for cybersecurity from the State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program (SLCGP) in fiscal year 2024. You’ll also find a summary of the most current information regarding your coverages that may be triggered by a cyber-related event, and how to report such events.

Members are encouraged to revisit the Toolkit periodically to refresh on the information available there. Whether your question is how to electronically transfer confidential documents securely, how to enable MFA, how to formulate a breach response plan, or how to select a vendor for managed IT services, the Toolkit contains helpful guidance.

And if you’re not familiar with the Toolkit, or are just getting started in your county or agency’s journey of improving cyber hygiene, now is the perfect time to check it out.

Simply log in on NIRMA’s website, navigate to the Interact menu, and Select the Cyber Resources page. There, you’ll find a link to the updated version of the NIRMA Cyber Security Toolkit.
