As the days remaining in the calendar year tick away, many of our member county officials begin worrying about how they will complete their annual required continuing education hours. Online training can be the answer, and it’s free and easily accessed through your NIRMA membership. Additionally, online training can be a great risk management follow up strategy to prevent recurrence after an incident that results in a loss or a near-miss: our courses can provide targeted or county-wide staff training or re-training in a particular area, such as: defensive driving, anti-bias, jail safety principles, stress management, and more.
Among the many training options available to NIRMA members is NIRMA Online University – a platform powered by our partner, Lexipol, to bring you online courses in a vast array of topics. During the past twelve months, popular courses have included: Preventing Sexual Harassment, Employee Free Speech, Jail/Law Enforcement Courses from the PoliceOne catalog, and Dealing with Stress.
To access courses, click the NIRMA Online University link at the bottom of the home page. You’ll need to enter your Lexipol login credentials on that page or follow the instructions to retrieve them (if you are law enforcement, you may have login credentials from the Nebraska Crime Commission, which can be used even if you access the platform through the NIRMA site).
