With the decision due to COVID-19 to cancel NIRMA’s Self Defense for County Officials Conference that was scheduled October 1-2, in its place NIRMA will be sponsoring a series of free monthly webinars to address many of the same timely and important subjects that were planned for the conference.

Our first seminar will be presented at 10:00 a.m. October 22 by employment law attorney Pam Bourne, who will address “The Work Environment After Coronavirus.”

In her presentation, Pam will discuss changes the pandemic rapidly created in the workplace, implications regarding compliance with recent federal labor and employment law updates, legal concerns for managing employees who work remotely, flexible work schedules, compliance with anti-discrimination laws and health and safety regulations, and return to work policies.

Complete details, including how to register, will be emailed to member officials in the weeks ahead.

Our second webinar is scheduled November 19 and will feature Brandy Johnson of Governmental Law, LLC. Brandy will focus on “Hot Topics Currently Confronting NIRMA Members,” including a recent Supreme Court decision addressing tree cutting by county road departments, litigation involving county zoning, hand-bus operations and ADA/seat belt legal considerations, recent developments related to law enforcement and considerations public entities should keep in mind when entering into contractual agreements.

Our final webinar of the year is planned for December and will address another timely topic that is of importance to our members.
